Sangheili Rangers are experts in unconventional warfare, being able to use their jets integrated into their armor to efficiently move about the environment which surrounds them. They are trained in extra-vehicular space and aerial methods of warfare, and are known for their brash yet quick and mobile tactics. Along with this, they are capable of performing demolitions when necessary, as they carry varying plasma charges which can serve from purposes such as simple breaching, to being able to meet the destructive power of C-12. The actions of Rangers in the field of combat have earned them the nickname of "ship killers" from humans, due to their effectiveness in space combat.

A Ranger's harness seals the wearer within, allowing them to operate not only in space, but also in other hazardous environments. While built for assisting in the user's movement in the vacuum of space, they also can keep the Sangheili wearing the harness easily mobile while on gravity intensive worlds. Of course, the harness also grants the capability of flight, even allowing Rangers to maintain a sustained hovering when needed. However, the thrust provided by the jets in the armor have been used by Ranger's to improve their on-foot movement, helping in propelling or launching them at their targets in order to quickly close the distance between them. Finally, their boots have the ability to magnetically lock onto metallic surfaces, further enhancing their ability to operate effectively in a zero gravity scenario.

Rangers on the server will serve along with Special Operations, as they are included under the Special Warfare Group, in Fleet Security. However, in order to become a Ranger, one first must join Special Operations as a Spec-Ops Minor. From there, their next promotion can either take them on to a standard Spec-Ops soldier, or they can opt to become a Ranger. If they decide at a standard Spec-Ops they wish to become a Ranger, they can do so in their next promotion in-which they may choose between Commando and Ranger. A Ranger's position in the Special Operations will be sub-servant to that of a Commando, though a Commando does not have the authority to directly order a Ranger. That falls unto the officer of Special Warfare to do. When one becomes a Ranger, they will be given the option to choose either a Fuel Rod or a Concussion Rifle. They cannot have both, but should a Ranger wish to go back on their selection, they may switch between either of the weapons once every two weeks. They will also be given access to the rocket boots without any limit on fuel during events. If the privilege of flight is ever exploited, then they will be removed and the character will be demoted.
