Swords of Sanghelios Special Operations
“Out of the darkness, these blades will light our way.”
When you think of the word, "Special Operations" your mind immediately retrieves the prototype of the ideal special operations unit. The name itself carries a weight of expectations, both positive and negative, as well as a slew of unique fantasies that Special Operations personnel alone will be able to experience. Such experiences include group bonding, high risk dangerous tasks, like-mindsets, and a certain degree of status.
The Special Operations division does exist within the Sword's faction. However, the concept entirely is being handled in a much more different manner. The way it was handled before was very simplistic, to which the potential within the division was never exposed or reaped, and membership was open towards any person; all they needed to do was ask and receive.
Instead, asking to be a Special Operations specialization will no longer give membership; "I wish to be this, therefore I become this," will no longer be the case. Rather, membership within the Special Operations will be limited, evaluated, and follow criteria. Not everyone can simply become a Special Operations, for the expectations must be met, otherwise the entire group itself suffers at one's sundering. The rewards however, are well worth pursuing. Your character will achieve a special identity, they can perform tasks and abilities that not anyone can do, and they can potentially be recognized and respected (not to be confused with arrogance and status).
How does this affect you? Know this: everyone has a potential candidacy to join, but not everyone can be accepted. There are certain things that must be not only shown, but be performed daily in order to be considered. Even after consideration, that does not guarantee membership. You will be observed. Should you prove sufficient, you may find your individual roleplaying experience with your character take a new path.
Criteria cannot be revealed, for everyone can simply alter their performance superficially in order to join the Special Operations, but then revert back to their old practices. If you wish to know what you are being evaluated on so that you may try to strive for membership, I will only give you one word, and this will be your only clue to joining the division.
